Soft Upright Mantle is used in Natural Gas Lights.

Installation Instructions for Auto-Form (Soft Upright) Gas Light Mantle
  1. Keep Lamp Valve in off position.
  2. Carefully remove gas mantle from the box.  Hold mantle from support wire only.  Avoid unnecessary contact with the mantle fabric.
  3. Place mantle in position on the lamp.
  4. Light the mantle such that fabric on all sides of the frames burns off and ash remains. 
  5. After igniting coating of mantle let cool for two to three minutes. CAUTION when mantle is burnt fabric becomes fragile.
  6. Turn on gas valve and light the mantle.
  7. Mantle must burn for several hours to produce full brilliancy and proper forming.
